La Palma - the green island

Far away from mass tourism, you can enjoy nature to the fullest on the island of La Palma. The island has many names and is often called "La Isla verde", which means the green island. The volcanic island truly lives up to its names, as it is by far the greenest island of the Canaries with 40% forest cover. Nature lovers in particular are attracted to the small island, as it has jungle-like forests, black sand beaches and an active volcano. An island could hardly be more diverse.

Varied leisure activities

Due to its mountainous landscape, La Palma is especially suitable for a hiking holiday. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced hiker, everyone will find a perfect hiking route on the island. The Caldera de Taburiente National Park is particularly popular, with an impressive sinkhole at the heart of the area. In the middle of the island rises the 2,500-metre-high Roque de los Muchachos mountain, on which there is an observatory with telescopes for observing the night sky. Everywhere on the island you will find deep canyons, craters, forests or waterfalls that are ideal for hiking.

The island's capital, Santa Cruz de la Palma, is also very worth a visit, as the old town houses many historical cultural assets, as well as archaeological sites. The charming alleys invite you to stroll around and the traditional architecture is a fascinating sight.

For divers, the island is a true paradise. You can dive through underground caves and archways and explore the colourful underwater world. And a big benefit: as the island is not dominated by mass tourism, you have most of the hotspots to yourself.

You can also have fun above the water, on a sailing boat tour, for example. You can sail along the coast or go on a whale-watching tour. You should definitely keep an eye out for dolphins.

The landscape of La Palma is characterised by diversity. The wild nature invites you to explore and investigate. Nature lovers will adore the island.
